Sometimes, it takes a while for an actual announcement to appear after a leak. Case in point involves the Sonic the Hedgehog Netflix series. Netflix finally, officially announced the Wild Brain Studio and Man of Action Entertainment show. It’s new name is Sonic Prime and it will stream via the service in 2022.
Here’s Netflix’s announcement, which included a look at the logo. As a reminder, this will be a 3D cartoon, just like the previous Sonic Boom. (That show can be found on Hulu now.)

This is actually the second time Netflix “announced” Sonic Prime. The first time it came up was back in December 2020. Netflix’s NXOnNetflix account mentioned it, then quickly deleted the tweet. That announcement didn’t involve a name for the series, logo, or launch window, like this one.
When Netflix’s Sonic show airs, it will mark a new animated series with a new Sonic. Back in January 2021, Roger Craig Smith announced he would no longer be the Sonic voice actor. He played the character for about 10 years. He also voiced him on Sonic Boom, the last animated show.
Sonic Prime will stream on Netflix in 2022.
