Back in March 2021, Kotobukiya announced a new line of SNK Bishoujo figures based on popular heroines from the developer’s fighting games. Now, it both revealed one of the characters who will show up. A Mai Shiranui KOF ’98 figure will be the first one in this line. She will show up sometime in 2022.
Figures in the Kotobukiya Bishoujo line all are based on designs drawn by Shunya Yamashita. This KOF ’98 Mai figure is no exception. On the page announcing the character and design, the company shared a picture showing how the sprite from the game inspired the art for the collectible.
And here’s the official Twitter reveal showing a larger picture of the full Yamashita art.

As a reminder, Kotobukiya also teased the second character in the SNK Bishoujo line. It noted one of the cast members of SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy will also get turned into a figure.
Kotobukiya will sell the KOF ’98 Mai Shiranui figure in 2022.
