A new addition to the SMT V compendium, Daimon is actually a generic term to denote a low-ranking demon that has yet to earn a unique name. The term itself originates from Greek, where it means “godlike” or “divider,” referring to their connection to divine origins and the power to determine fortunes. In essence, “Daimon” (δαίμων) indicated the numerous lesser spirits and deities of Greece and Hellenistic religion and myth. As the concept and term filtered into other cultures alongside the Greek language, Judaic and Christian churches derived from it the term “Demon”. Unlike the Daimon, “demon” referred uniformly to evil entities.

The gameplay footage of Daimon from SMT V shows it participating in a negotiation, flocking about in a cutscene, and even launching a four-hit attack on an enemy Cait Sith. The next video will introduce a member of the Femme race.

Shin Megami Tensei V is due to release on November 12, 2021 worldwide and November 11, 2021 in Japan on the Nintendo Switch.
