Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has a high cost when you summon an eidolon. You have to sacrifice one of your squad members to bring Ifrit or Bahamut into battle for just a minute or two. Like other Final Fantasy games, eidolons are ridiculously powerful, but in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD you have to consider the size of the summon monster too.
If you’re in a closed space, maybe Bahamut isn’t the best summon to bring around. Bahamut and Mega Bahamut are gargantuan and in say a closed subway tunnel these eidolons will find it difficult to move. Petit Shiva, a smaller version of Final Fantasy’s ice elemental, would be a better choice. Even though she doesn’t have Mega Flare or Shockwave (a giant stomping attack), Shiva is more agile.
Eidolons gain experience when they defeat enemies in Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Using an Eidolon more extends the time you can summon them and you may learn new abilities. Final Fantasy Type-0 HD has some tweaks that make Eidolons easier to use than the PSP version. Summon time lengths have been extended and they move faster.
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD comes out on March 17 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
