Silent Hill: Downpour’s Murphy Pendleton has been incarcerated for several years, having had his sentence extended once already. While he’s being transferred to a maximum security penitentiary, an accident cuts that journey short, and Murphy ends up wandering into the town of Silent Hill.

Konami say that Downpour will touch upon themes of psychological torture and self-evaluative questions of despair. Exploration will allow you to unlock side quests and new areas within the game, along with special items and bonus content.

The game will also switch between day and night, and the ‘Normal’ world and ‘Otherworld’. This will be influenced by Murphy’s actions in the game.

Silent Hill: Downpour is being penned by Silent Hill comic writer, Tom Waltz, and Dan Licht, who worked on the Dexter TV show, is handling the soundtrack. Konami have Downpour slated for an October release.
