Late yesterday, Silent Hill series creature designer Masahiro Ito tweeted that he is “working on a new title as a core member”.
It seems that this title might still be in its early phases, as he added, “I hope the title won’t be cancelled.” He followed up the Tweet with, “About that, I can tell you nothing yet”.
It is currently unknown if Ito is referring to a new game in the Silent Hill series, where he was the creature designer for the first three games. He was also the art director in Silent Hill 2 and 3. Apart from the Silent Hill series, Ito most recently provided the creature designs used in Metal Gear Survive, showing strong connections with Konami even after leaving to become a freelancer.
Since 2014, Ito has also worked on his original IP, Acid Bufferzone. It’s a sci-fi IP set on a war-torn version of Earth that suffered through the “A War Before” period. Ito works on all of its story, illustration, solid models and designs, meaning that if “a new title” were to be made, he would be a core member for sure.
