Should You Use Immersive Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the long-awaited Japan-set assassin open-world experience. While you can play the game in English with English voiceovers, there is the option for Japanese voices as well. This is where the Immersive Mode comes into play in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is a crucial setting option.

What Is Immersive Mode?

Immersive Mode is one of the main settings you can turn on as soon as you start the game. You can also switch to it at any point you want down the line. How Immersive Mode works is it focuses on the historical accuracy of the story in a way. While it is different from Canon Mode, it does keep the game’s story canonical to what the characters would have spoken at the time.

Instead of a singular one voiceover language, Immersive Mode switches between them. Whenever you speak to someone Japanese, you’ll hear Japanese. Whenever the missionaries are involved, they speak Portuguese. Even the Animus guide you rarely but occasionally hear from is in English.

Should You Turn On Immersive Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

As for whether or not you should turn on Immersive Mode in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it comes down to personal preference. Are you the type of person to turn on subtitles and listen to the original language’s voiceover in a show, movie, or anime, for instance? Then Immersive Mode is for you.

In fact, I would recommend Immersive Mode to everyone except those who struggle with subtitles and the like. If it is a challenge for you to keep up with the action and read subtitles at the same time, this probably isn’t for you. This can even more of an issue here than in an anime since you are multitasking sometimes while characters are speaking to you.
