Early on in Unicorn Overlord, players will be given the option to imprison and execute Black Talon thieves named Gammel and Mandrin during certain missions and may wonder if that is the right thing to do. Well, it is a choice that has implications down the line.
What do I get if I imprison Gammel and execute Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord?
Editor’s Note: There will be Unicorn Overlord spoilers below.
This is fairly straightforward. Choosing to imprison Gammel gets you 10,000 G for your War Funds after “A Solitary Resistance” at Fort Soligie. Opting to execute Mandrin will net you 15 Divine Shards after “The Winged Knight” at Treyes Village.
Since I opted to spare both and didn’t continue after choosing the execute option, I can’t say how that will affect the story later.
What happens if I spare Gammel and Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord?
You’ll see the pay-off once you get to the Elheim region and meet a young woman named Celeste at Yaniss Town. She is seeking aid from the Liberation Army on behalf of the local militia to save elves in Kiulkukka.
Start “A Shifting Tide.” You’ll then find Gammel and Mandrin with Celeste, as the two took advantage of Alain’s mercy to abandon the thief life and become better people. The Black Talon, of which they used to be members, are now with Zenoira and kidnapping elves. As you start the stage, Celeste, Gammel, and Mandrin will appear as an allied unit you can control alongside your own forces.
You’ll get a Golden Egg accessory when the battle ends. You’ll get confirmation that Gammel changed. You’ll get 12 Honors, one Hot Cross Buns, a Greatwood Spear, the Black Talon Thieves emblem, 25 Renown, and Celeste, Gammel, and Mandrin as new allies. Celeste is a Gryphon Master, Gammel is a Rogue, and Mandrin is a Sniper.
Unicorn Overlord is available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
