Should You Help Glodell in Metaphor ReFantazio

Once you enter the competition for the throne in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you head out in a runner to go after the Heismay bounty. However, along the way you run into some trouble. Two competitors in runners named Gideaux and Glodell are fighting on the road. When that happens, you get the option as to whether you should help out Glodell or not in Metaphor: ReFantazio. But should you?

Should I help out Glodell in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

Honestly? Yes. When the prompt comes up in Metaphor: ReFantazio, go ahead and select “Let’s help out Glodell” right away. It just simplifies things and gets into some interesting story and character development.

Of course, Glodell is suspicious and none too pleased, especially since he was a jerk when we met him in Trad earlier to register. But Gideaux is even more upset and comes to attack you. This triggers a brief “boss” fight. However, since he’s a higher-ranked competitor, you can’t actually attack him. You can only attack the the Mage Monk and Spearmonk with him.

I recommend taking out the Mage Monk first, since dealing with the spells is rather annoying. It also will basically block all magic, so don’t even trying using any against that foe. Go with physical attacks only, and you’ll be fine. With the Spearmonk, you actually need to use magic to make real headway. It’s weak against ice damage, so either have a Mage with you before this fight or someone inherit and equip that spell.

After you beat both of Gideaux’s allies, the fight will end. You’ll then talk with Glodell and Junah. When Glodell asks why you stepped in, I recommend saying, “I wanted to help.” Louis will then show up. While there will be dialogue options here, you’re essentially steamrolled into certain answers. So when he asks why you’re there, say “I’m a candidate.” After that, you must tell him that you became a candidate because “I want to help you, Count Louis.”

With that done, you can continue on your way.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. There is also a demo available.
