June 14, 2021 is going to be a very big day for Samurai Shodown. SNK made two announcements regarding the 2019 fighting game. First, Samurai Shodown will see Shiro Tokisada Amakusa return. He’ll be back as DLC that day. Second, PC players will be able to pick up Samurai Shodown on Steam.
SNK didn’t share details about how Shiro Tokisada Amakusa will play in Samurai Shodown. (He is a recurring character who’s been around since the first entry, though.) The announcement tweet only confirmed his release date. It also noted he’ll have a new voice actor for this entry. This time around, Shusaku Shirakawa will play him. Shirakawa also played Gebel in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
As for the Samurai Shodown Steam release, this will mark the end of its Epic Games Store exclusivity. It debuted on that storefront back in June 2020. Before that, anyone who wanted to play the fighter on a PC would have to use Google Stadia. (It appeared on that service back when it launched on November 2019.)
Samurai Shodown is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC via Epic Games Store, and Google Stadia. The Steam version will be available on June 14, 2021. That’s also when Shiro Tokisada Amakusa will appear in Samurai Shodown as the third season pass 3 character after Cham Cham and Hibiki.
