Sega’s latest entry in the Shining series, Shining Resonance, looks like something quite different from past titles with a dragon as a protagonist and party members using musical instruments as weapons. The game’s official website updates us with more details on the other dragons and more.

As previously reported, the battle system will consist of four characters who use weapon-like instruments in real-time action and command battles. With all the instruments used during battle it will give a similar feeling to hearing a band perform.

Here is another look at the Shining Dragon Irvan, who happens to be one of the last remaining dragons. In order to acquire its power, the imperial army, church forces, and Dragon Slayers, aim to capture Irvan.

It is said that the dragon is currently looking for the maiden who treated its wounds when it was younger, and when they reunite, a certain miracle will occur.

The guy you see on the top of the image is Georg Zalbard, a leader of the Beowulf squad, a special group that works under a church of the Lombardian Empire. He’s considered a dog of the church, who commands the most excellent battalion, and brings fear to the outsiders.

While he leads a rather strange group of soldiers, his talent is well acknowledged by those of the imperial army, as he commands the front lines under the orders of the princess.

The three dragons on the bottom are known as the “Dragomachina,” a product of the imperial army’s research, after having brought legendary dragons back to life. These dragons are used as Dragon Knights to the empire, and are named after the legendary weapons Crimson Spear Trishula, Roaring Lightning Halberd Gungnir, and the Ice Blue Spear Gae Bolg.

Shining Resonance is slated for release this Winter for PlayStation 3.
