WayForward updated the Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter page today with some information about the game’s digital and physical release. The PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii U, Xbox One, and PC versions of the game have a target release date of September 27, 2016. This means that the developer is hoping to have it released worldwide on that date, but it could end up shifting as it draws nearer, due to technical issues.

Information on Xseed’s PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Wii U Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Risky Beats Edition was also provided. People who backed the Kickstarter will not be able to shift from a digital copy to a physical copy. Also, there is no information available regarding an Xbox One physical copy. A European publisher for physical editions has not been announced. In addition, the soundtrack included with the Risky Beats Edition will not include the backer-exclusive songs that will appear on the Kickstarter soundtrack CD.

WayForward also confirmed that Shantae: Half-Genie Hero’s Risky Beats Edition is not a GameStop exclusive. It will be available at other retailers, with additional pre-orders coming in the next few months. A Steam pre-order is also being investigated.

The Shantae: Half-Genie Hero crowdfunding campaign launched on September 4, 2013. 18,558 backers contributed $776,084 to the project. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will come to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U, and Windows PCs.
