This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

There’s good Shaman King news on the horizon. No, it doesn’t have to do with the new anime adaptation, which will be appearing in Japan in 2021. This has to do with a localization. The Shaman King manga run will finally be completed in English. Kodansha USA, the current rights-holder in North America, will be releasing the entire series digitally in English through comiXology on July 28, 2020. [Thanks, Anime News Network!]

Here’s what happened. Viz Media used to hold the license for the Shaman King manga’s English release. The last volume it released was number 32 back in January 2011. However, that’s when things ended for the translation. Now that Kodansha is working with ComiXology, it will bring volumes 1-35 to the digital platform. This means 33, 34, and 35 will be in English for the first time.

The comiXology Originals digital release of the Shaman King manga will have new Hiroyuki Takei cover art. People will be able to buy volumes individually or read all of them with services like Amazon Prime Reading or comiXology Unlimited.

The Shaman King manga run began in June 1998 in Japan, with the complete edition of it spanning 35 volumes. It will all be available in English through comiXology on July 28, 2020. The current Shaman King series is Shaman King: Marcos, which began in April 2020. Also, the new anime adaptation will begin airing in April 2021.
