In an effort to strengthen relationships with Nintendo, Capcom is releasing a popular series on the Wii, reports Nikkei. As such, the next Sengoku Basara sequel will be gracing the Wii sometime next year.

Keep in mind the Nikkei report doesn’t say “Sengoku Basara 3” anywhere in the post, but that’s probably what is being referred to.

While it isn’t very popular in the west, Sengoku Basara is an absolute sensation in Japan, and is especially popular with women as we learnt a few months ago.

Interestingly, the report also mentions that Capcom and Nintendo will be cooperating in order to promote sales of Monster Hunter Tri outside of Japan. However, I wouldn’t take that to necessarily mean that Sengoku Basara will be getting localized as well, since, thematically, it’s a lot more Japan-centric than Monster Hunter in general.

And so, the confusion for Japanese developers continues! Do they develop primarily for the machine with Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest and Sengoku Basara or do they focus on the one with Final Fantasy XIII, Street Fighter IV and Metal Gear Solid?
