Earlier this year, Capcom announced Sengoku Basara 4 for the PlayStation 3 during a Sengoku Basara festival that took place in March. They used the key terms “Sengoku Genesis” and “Enter a new chapter” for the fourth installment of the series. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine shares more details on the upcoming game.
The stage is set in a parallel world of the Muromachi period. Sengoku Basara 4 will remain faithful to the history of the era, with the exception of additional military commanders who weren’t alive at the time. The characters who are confirmed to appear in Sengoku Basara 4 so far are: Masamune Date, Mitsunari Ishida, Ashikaga Yoshiteru, Sakon Shima, and Katsuie Shibata.
Masamune Date and Mitsunari Ishida will be keeping their same appearance from Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes. The gambling-addict Sakon Shima will be one of the more acrobatic characters of the mix. The magazine issue also notes that Katsuie Shibata is a complete opposite from Sakon, as he’s considered a pitiful person after having lost himself to despair and no longer has any feelings while continuing to obey orders, unlike Sakon who is known for being more of a free spirit.
Famitsu also mentions that Ashikaga Yoshiteru’s weapon of choice is a scepter that has the ability to transform into other weapons such as katana, spears, and bows.
Sengoku Basara 4 is slated for release in early 2014 for PlayStation 3.
