Sometime in the middle of Tokyo Game Show Sega announced they have plans to publish Phantasy Star Portable in March 2009. Phantasy Star Portable is piggybacking off the massive success of Monster Hunter Portable, which in some ways shares roots with Sega’s Phantasy Star Online series. The PSP game has a brand new story to follow and mission oriented gameplay. This is great news for PSP owners looking to level up a robotic ranger or anyone who just wants to see Vivienne again (she’s from Phantasy Star Universe), but I’m more interested in Phantasy Star Zero since it’s built with network play. I suppose Phantasy Star Portable can tide me over if it’s compatible with Sony’s PlayStation 3 ad-hoc party software.
