Sega Picks Up License For Planet 51 Film?

This article is over 15 years old and may contain outdated information

Sega of America acts fast when it comes to movie rights. In past years they made games based on the Golden Compass, Iron Man, and the Incredible Hulk. Their next movie game might be Planet 51, an animated film about about an astronaut landing on a planet with stereotypical Martians paranoid of a human invasion. American Pie alumni Seann William Scott and the Rock voice some of the characters.

Planet 51 is the first film from Ilion Animation Studios, a spin-off of Pyro Studios the developer behind the Commandos game series. Perhaps, Pyro is responsible for the Planet 51 game which Gamestop claims is in development for the Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS.

Will a family friendly, movie license game be a hit for Sega during the holidays? They could use a cash flow boost right about now.
