Sega has announced a slew of announcements for Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics. The PC version has received a major update on Steam that not only adds Mac and Linux support, but also drops the price to $29.99/€29.99/£24.99.

Some of the biggest inclusions change the way the games can be played. Online two-player multiplayer has been added for some games. There will also be Challenge and Mirror modes in others, to make things more challenging. Leaderboards are being added, so people can compare scores. VR support is added, for people who have HTC Vive headsets. It is also possible to fast-forward or rewind as you play, to help get through more difficult sections. Things might also look different when you play, as there are new border options, extra filters and the sprite limit is disabled.

Sega has also added ROMs from different regions to the game, so you can see the differences between releases in different areas. However, some people are reporting problems in the official forum, stating the other region ROMs are not working properly.

To accompany the update, a new Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics trailer with input from Eclectic Method has been released.

Sega Mega Drive & Genesis Classics is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
