Sega Holding a 2023 Sonic Central Showcase Game and Event News

The array of video game news presentations are still coming. Sega announced it will hold a Sonic Central on June 23, 2023. This is in honor of Sonic the Hedgehog’s birthday, as the original Sonic the Hedgehog game appeared on the Genesis on June 23, 1991. There’s no official length announced for this showcase, which will start at 8am PT/11am ET/5pm CET. However, Sega did tease that it could go over new Sonic the Hedgehog projects, which would include games.

There will be two ways to watch Sega’s Sonic Central 2023 showcase. One is to go to the official Twitch account for the series, and the other is via YouTube. There’s no placeholder page live yet on YouTube, however.

There are no exact details about what sorts of Sonic the Hedgehog game news or announcement could come out of this presentation. The company only mentioned “projects, partnerships, and events.” This could mean noting which conventions Sega could show up at over 2023. There could also be news about comics and cartoons tied to the series. The company also sometimes uses these showcases to look at new merchandise.

We do know about one new game on the way, however. Sonic Superstars is coming. This will be a more traditional sort of title. However, it will also include cooperative multiplayer for up to four people.

The Sonic Central 2023 stream will air at 8am PT/11am ET/5pm CET on June 23, 2023.
