The crossover that surely everyone has been hoping for is upon us. The official Sega Heroes Twitter account is teasing the appearance of Yakuza characters. All that was shared was a single gif of Kazuma Kiryu waking from his bed with a start, but it is enough to suggest that people from Kamurocho could soon be joining forces with other icons. Perhaps the Mad Dog of Shimano will be the one to finally strike fear into the hearts of Cream and Cheese.
Here’s the Sega Heroes Yakuza tease.

This comes after the Yakuza series appeared as an option on an April 2019 Sega Heroes survey asking players which familiar faces they would like to see added to the game. After choosing “Yakuza,” people could then vote for characters like Kiryu, Goro Majima, Shun Akiyama, Daigo Dojima, Taiga Saejima, and Ryuji Goda. Oddly enough, characters like Hana and Nugget appeared as options, but Haruka Sawamura wasn’t.
Sega Heroes is a Puzzle & Dragons style match-three game where you build up a team of four characters from Sega properties and fight against enemies by matching gems connected to their particular colors. Characters from series like Golden Axe, Jet Set Radio, Phantasy Star, Shenmue, Shinobi, Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Valkyria Chronicles, and Virtua Fighter all appear.
Sega Heroes is available for Android and Apple iOS devices.
