Sega grabs a share of the Haruhi license

Similar to the Naruto license in North America, rights to make games with Haruhi Suzumiya are fragmented between three parties. Namco Bandai gets to make PlayStation and PSP games. Kadokawa Shoten, a company known the Sega Saturn Lunar games, makes motion controlled Haruhi dancing games on the Wii. Sega picked up the license solely for the Nintendo DS. Everyone wants a piece of the Haruhi license.

Sega’s plan is to make an adventure game with an original story. Since the name of the game hasn’t even been finalized, it’s still being called Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), the scenario hasn’t been discussed. We should know more soon since Sega has their Haruhi game slated to come out in the winter, the same season when Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekidou with a deluxe package including a limited edition figure.
