Japan’s official Puyo Puyo Twitter account has revealed some good news for Sega Ages Puyo Puyo. The release will include content from the overseas arcade version. This means it will offer an official release of the English translation that changed the character names, story, and a lot of the voice acting.

Here is the tweet making the announcement and showing off some screenshots.

Very little is known about the English Puyo Puyo arcade release. For example, while we know the arcade version was released in Japan in 1992, it is unknown if or when it appeared in other countries. We do know that almost all character names were changed, with Arle becoming Silvana, Suketoudara turning into Goby Captain, Schezo becoming Devious, and Sata turning into Dark Prince. Harpy has both a new name and a different sprite.

In addition to the overseas arcade version, which is now shown on the official Sega Ages Puyo Puyo website, this version of the game will offer Puyo Puyo Tsu‘s quick turn, the ability to rotate pieces left or right, and online play.
