Second DOOM Eternal Trailer Gives a Taste of Its Story and Gameplay

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

A new DOOM Eternal trailer has been released, and this time there’s a balance of story and gameplay. It begins with the DOOM Slayer flying above Earth. Demons are running rampant and attacking everyone. The landscape has been decimated, with familiar sorts of landmarks only barely recognizable. It is then that we learn that the only line of defense against such forces will be the DOOM Slayer, and he suits up to head down to the planet.

After a bit of exposition suggesting what a threat the DOOM Slayer could be to the demons in DOOM Eternal, especially to the showcased characters like the Gladiator and Marauder, we get to see actual gameplay. While gunplay is on display for most of the video, something special is available at the 1:50ish mark.

Right when the DOOM Slayer is being told that he is the only thing the demons fear, he is seen drawing an energy sword. We then get to see him use the melee weapon against some of the demons.

DOOM Eternal was first revealed at E3 2018 and will come to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 20, 2020. (This comes after a delay from its original November 2019 launch window.) It will also come to the Nintendo Switch and Stadia, though the release dates for both platforms haven’t been announced. As a reminder, preorders give people a digital copy of DOOM 64 and a Rip and Tear Pack with Doot Revenant skin, Bonus Campaign master Level, and Throwback Shotgun weapon skin.
