Avast ye, mateys. It seems the corpirate powers that be at Microsoft have decided it’s time for a Sea of Thieves Steam release. While the Xbox One and PC game has always been available through the Microsoft Store, it never ventured into other waters. Now, a Steam product page suggests there’s clear sailing ahead, as it is apparently “coming soon” to the distributor.
Microsoft hasn’t made any official announcement about the Sea of Thieves Steam release, but the details suggest that it is exactly what people expect. The cooperative and competitive pirate simulation from Rare will show up there with with the sorts of Steam achievements and already available cross-platform multiplayer people would expect. That means if you decide not to go it alone, you’ll be able to play with others who own the game on the Xbox One and PC.
Sea of Thieves has received quite a bit of support over the years from Microsoft and Rare. It has received 14 expansion packs so far, with the most recent one being March 2020’s Heart of Fire. It also has some Ori series related perks through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perks.
Sea of Thieves was announced back in 2015 and released on the Xbox One and PC in 2018.
