SD Gundam Cross Rays Premium G Sound Edition Will Be Taken Down

Bandai Namco will remove the Premium G Sound Edition of SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays from Japanese stores on March 24, 2021, at 23:59 JST. The company made this announcement on the official Japanese Twitter account for the SD Gundam G Generation console game series. It added that the Premium G Sound Edition will be on sale for 5,280 yen (~$49.40) until March 17, 2021.

The Premium G Sound Edition contains exclusive, pre-installed theme songs from the featured Gundam anime shows, such as “Just Communication” from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and “Daybreak’s Bell” from Mobile Suit Gundam 00. This release is available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan and Asia.

While the PS4 version and PC release support a custom BGM feature, the Switch version does not have such a feature. The Premium G Sound Edition is the only way for Switch players to add more songs to the game’s repertoire.

Previously in January 2021, Bandai Namco announced it will release a Platinum Edition of Cross Rays on March 25, 2021. This release can be described as a complete edition that includes most of the game’s DLC with the price of a regular game copy at 5,980 yen plus tax (approximately $60). Today’s announcement means that the Platinum Edition will effectively replace the Premium G Sound Edition.

SD Gundam G Generation Cross Rays is immediately available worldwide on PC via Steam. The game is also available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in Japan and the rest of Asia. An English localization of the console releases is available in Southeast Asian countries.
