The kingdom of Akuma no Rakuen is splintered, ruled by powerful creatures after the death of the king, but the players, as a ninja crocodile, may possess the skills to bring peace to it all by killing everything that stands in their way. He is using a sword forged of his own hatred, after all, so peace will not come easy from him.

Players have access to several ninja abilities to use on the foes and traps they come across. They can use a number of different swords, each offering different attacks, as well as use abilities to improve their defenses or make it easier to hide should things get too challenging. The game’s hero, Oni Wani, also has Jutsu attacks that will launch impressive displays of power and devastate enemies, but at the cost of Oni’s life force. The game’s challenge is inspired by Ghosts N’ Goblins, so players may wish to use their health sparingly.
