Takara Tomy will release miniature figures of Sanrio characters hugging an even smaller plush of themselves, and you’ll be available as gacha prizes. You’ll be able to start pulling for them in mid-November 2024. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
As a note, it costs 300 JPY per attempt. That would convert to approximately $2. In total, there are four variations: My Melody, Pochacco, Hangyodon, and Pompompurin. All of them are holding plushie versions of themselves, except for Pompompurin. Instead of holding the smaller version of Pompompurin, he has him on his stomach as he’s lying on his back.
All of the figures stand at approximately 30 to 50 millimeters, but you can see that Takara Tomy put quite a bit of work into the designs. Since Sanrio characters look quite simple, it’s not too difficult to have an accurate depiction of them. But in the case of these figures in particular, you can tell that they’re holding plush versions of themselves due to how the dolls look like they’re covered in fur. Some of them even have visible stitches to make it more obvious.
This is not the first time that Takara Tomy released Sanrio toys exclusive to gacha machines. In March 2024, it released a line of mascots that look like sushi, for example. This line featured Hello Kitty, Pochacco, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, and Keroppi.
The Takara Tomy Sanrio figures showing them holding plush versions of themselves will come out in mid-November 2024 in Japan via gacha machines.
