Koei Tecmo revealed Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita and has provided a first look at its screenshots and details on the official website for the upcoming spinoff title.
The story of Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru highlights the Sanada family, showing 48 years of Sanada Yukimura’s life. The game will show us Yukimura as a child, growing as a teen, and as an adult in his late middle age (child Yukimura is voiced by Yuka Saito and Teen Yukimura by Takeshi Kusao.)
Additionally, the NHK drama “Sanada Maru” uses 3D maps from Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, and it’ll be used in Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru for the scenes that explain battle situations. It will also use the Samurai Warriors series as a base along with some new systems featured.
Castle Town System
This system will let you enjoy interactions with military commanders. Up until now, you had to choose game modes from the menu screen, but this time you’ll be able to pick gallery mode and such all through the Castle Town.
There are horse stables that you can pay for horses to ride on during battle, mini-games for fishing which allows you to use the fish you caught for creating items or as gifts for other characters. All characters have their own favorite items and gifting it to them will bring out a special event.
Long-Term Battles
The battles of the game are “Long-Term Battles” that take place across several battlefields. For example the “Battle of Kawanakajima” with the Takeda family against the Uesugi will need you to clear three different battles before advancing. While in battle, you can activate the “Next Move” to put yourself in an advantage by calling reinforcements or placing bridges on the map and such.
The “Sanada’s Rokumeonsen” which is needed into activate Next Move can be acquired by meeting certain conditions in battle or by gathering information at the Castle Town.
Exploration
There are many areas to explore in Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru, and you’ll be free to do so at will. These explorations can be used to acquire items or visit specific maps where you’ll have to do things such as transport items. There’s always a chance that enemies will appear while exploring.
Here’s a look at some of the characters:
