Bandai Namco will shut down the mobile game Saint Seiya: Shining Soldiers on January 13, 2021, at 10:30 JST. The announcement is made not only on the Japanese webpage but also in English and other available languages, such as French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
Pre-registrations for Saint Seiya: Shining Soldiers began on January 28, 2020, and the game itself launched worldwide on February 27, 2020. With the battle strategy RPG closing down on January 13, 2021, it means Shining Soldiers will not even last a whole year.
Although Shining Soldiers will soon be taken off app stores, Bandai Namco still has another active Saint Seiya mobile game. Saint Seiya: Zodiac Brave is an action RPG that was first launched for Android devices in Japan in January 2016. It was later brought worldwide as Saint Seiya: Cosmo Fantasy in November 2017, and this game is still actively going well with no signs of shutting down anytime soon. Bandai Namco also recently sees competition as Tencent Games launched the 3D RPG Saint Seiya: Rising Cosmo in Japan in September 2020.
The latest standalone Saint Seiya game for consoles is Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul, a 3D fighting game released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2015. Several characters from the franchise also appeared in the crossover brawler game Jump Force.
