Back during the September 2023 Nintendo Direct, a new SaGa game appeared. Now a message from the series’ General Director Akitoshi Kawazu offered more insight into what to expect. The message mentions what to expect from SaGa Emerald Beyond characters, as well as how people should revisit worlds to get the most of the experience.
To be specific, Kawazu mentioned people can’t do everything at one of the SaGa Emerald Beyond worlds in one trip and suggests visiting them with multiple characters to see how that affects the experience. Here’s the full statement:
By now, you’ve likely heard that we’ve finally been able to announce the latest entry in the SaGa franchise, SaGa Emerald Beyond, scheduled for release in 2024. I know that many of you have been clamoring for news of our latest project, and I’m happy to share it with you at last. If this is your first time experiencing the release of a new SaGa title, we’re glad to have you here with us.
SaGa Emerald Beyond features a diverse cast of characters traversing an even more diverse set of worlds. The worlds you visit — and which character(s) you visit them with — have a profound effect on the way the story changes. You won’t be able to experience everything a given world has to offer if you only visit it once, so I hope that you enjoy making forays into new frontiers with the breadth of unique characters that we’ve created for you to enjoy.
And these characters are more than just “normal” humans. We’ve got mechs, monsters, and even more outlandish races that defy standard naming conventions. This go around we’ve also got witches and vampires as playable characters. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy taking each of them on your journeys.
The combat systems of SaGa Emerald Beyond revolve around linking your characters’ actions together to make impressive United Attacks. You’ll want to utilize all the spells and techniques at your disposal using one of the dozens of retinue formations, glimmer new attacks, and forge new weaponry if you want to tackle some of the tougher challenges the game will pose to you. There’s nothing more cathartic than finding the perfect combination of actions to topple a seemingly unbeatable foe standing in your way.
The SaGa franchise has always been known for taking risks and providing experiences you cannot find in any other RPG series, and SaGa Emerald Beyond is no exception. Please hold on for just a little while longer as we put the finishing touches on the newest addition to the family.
We also got to see more of SaGa Emerald Beyond and its characters during the 2023 Tokyo Game Show. A new trailer appeared at the event.
SaGa Emerald Beyond is in development and will head to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices sometime in 2024.
