SaGa 2 Then And Now

Yep, Square Enix is remaking SaGa 2 better known as Final Fantasy Legend 2 here. You already know this, but how does the game look in juxtaposed against the original? I tried to put together some comparison screenshots, but SaGa 2 looks so different from the source material I wasn’t able to make them as good as I wanted.

Monsters in Final Fantasy Legend 2 were layered. So a single Mapleman sprite could represent a line of five Maplemen in batle. In battle Game Boy game also didn’t show the party members which meant you never saw effects for healing spells. The landscape looks entirely different too. Trees and mountains tiles aren’t stamped on blank land anymore either. Twenty years of SaGa means we get actual trees and mountains.
