Them’s Fightin’ Herds has an interesting history. It began its life in 2011 as a My Little Pony fan-game called Fighting is Magic, but Hasbro shut that down in 2013. The developers’ ambitions and passion couldn’t be harnessed, so they transformed it into Them’s Fightin’ Herds, an entirely original fighting game with four-legged animals. Lauren Faust, the creator of the new My Little Pony series, joined in to help design the new Key Keeper fighters Arizona, Oleander, Paprika, Pom, Tianhuo, and Velvet.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds is set in Foenum, where everyone is an anthopomorphic, four-legged animal. Predators are invading, and each tribe has sent a representative to become the Key Keeper who will fight against the enemies and seal predators away at the gate. Some of these buck tradition, like the timid Pom the sheep, while others are strong warriors with lots of horse power, like Tianhuo the longma.

The early access release for the game actually happened back in February 2018. However, as Mane6 pointed out on its page in June 2018, real life happened and it was down to three people working on it alone for a time. This means there will be a two-year gap between its early access and full versions.

Them’s Fightin’ Herds is available via early access for the PC.
