If multiple, credible sources are to be believed, we could end up seeing some sort of PlayStation 5 reveal on June 3, 2020. Rumors have been floating about suggesting that there will be an event, one that could specifically be looking at PlayStation 5 games. People connected to this latest rumor include Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and Takashi Mochizuki and VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb.
The latest round of rumors regarding some kind of Sony event started with Grubb, who posted a picture of a schedule on Twitter saying that a “PlayStation event” would be happening “soon.” Schreier then posted a tweet sharing an article noting that a Sony PlayStation 5 reveal event, which could be looking at games, might happen as soon as next week and credited Mochizuki and himself as providing information. However, his suggestion about the rumor said that the pandemic could cause the date to change. Grubb then shared another tweet that said, “I’ll just say that June 3 is June 4 in Japan.”
It is worth noting that Grubb has been a source for multiple rumors as of late. He was the one who suggested there would be no Nintendo Directs in the near future and Pikmin 3 Deluxe is on the way.
While there has been no confirmation, this would fall in line with other PlayStation 5 reveals. At Sony’s May 2020 Corporate Strategy Meeting, CEO Kenichiro Yoshida said PlayStation 5 games would be announced in the near future. We also saw a PlayStation 5 tech demo at the Unreal Engine 5 announcement, heard about PlayStation Studios being the new name for first-party games, and saw the system’s DualSense controller.
According to Sony, we will be seeing the PlayStation 5 launch in 2020.
