A rumor is circulating, backed up by images of an alleged Xbox Series X controller that mentions a second version of Microsoft’s next gen console. Supposedly, the alleged Microsoft Lockhart system, which could potentially be a smaller, cheaper, and possibly digital system, will be known as the Xbox Series S. This is all due to an Xbox Robot White controller apparently appearing in the wild and that one person named Zak S found on OfferUp. [Thanks, Rakan Elessar, Zak S, and The Verge!]
Both Rakan and Zak S shared images of the suspected controller. In each case, the box lists it as a Robot White Xbox controller for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, Android devices, and Apple iOS devices. Zak S noted it came from OfferUp for $35 ad included a vide showing it. The Verge said it “confirmed it’s genuine” and shared images of the instruction manual.
Here are some pictures of the box mentioning the two Xbox Series models, which were shared by Zak S and Rakan.
Jeff Grubb, who has become known for leaks regarding 2020 announcements, also talked about the possible Xbox Series S. He retweeted Wario64’s tweet about the alleged system and said an announcement would be happening “within two weeks,” but then corrected himself and said, “It’s within three weeks.”
The Xbox Series X will be released during the 2020 holiday season. Microsoft has not announced any other model yet, but Sony will release an all-digital PlayStation 5.
