As usual, people will have to pay a bit more for this software than they would for a normal game to get started. RPG Maker MZ will cost $79.99. However, this isn’t out of line or unexpected. The previous entry, RPG Maker MV, is still priced at that, and predecessor RPG Maker VX Ace costs $69.99. (The most reasonably priced one you can grab right now is RPG Maker 2003, but it won’t have nearly as many features.)

The official update that confirmed the release date also went over more changes people will find in this installment. There’ll be an event layer to help you find which events will occur on a map. There will also be system tabs that let you add an autosave option, offset the title screen, change item categories, and advanced settings that let you decide things like screen width and height, UI area width and height, and fonts. Mouse support and touchscreen support can also be added.

This means it will beat another RPG Maker entry to stores. RPG Maker MV, for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, may already be available in Japan, but the western version won’t be showing up until September 2020. (It’s already available on PCs.)
