Square Enix announced that Romancing SaGa 2 will release worldwide on December 15, 2017 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Originally released in 1993, the landmark title in the SaGa series has players leading the Varennes Empire in battle against the Seven Heroes. A free scenario system—a hallmark of the SaGa series—enables the player to take command of a variety of protagonists along the line of imperial succession and experience the history of a nation as it grows and changes.

Enhanced features include:

  • Updated graphics and audio
  • New character classes provide added depth and tactical possibilities to gameplay
  • New dungeon provides greater challenges
  • “New Game+” feature carries over useful character attributes and items into a new game, enabling players to obtain missed items, or save previously sacrificed lands and companions.

The announcement comes a couple weeks after series creator Akitoshi Kawazu said that the classic RPG is headed Westward on PS Vita and “other game consoles” in December. As it turns out, “other game consoles” was the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.

Romancing SaGa 2is available in Japan for PlayStation Vita and worldwide on iOS and Android. It will release worldwide on PS4, PS Vita, Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam, and Switch on December 15.
