Nobunaga’s Ambition DS was originally a Nintendo DS remake of the eighth title in the series, called Nobunaga’s Ambition: Tales of the Storms. In addition to the eleven scenarios that were in the DS version, the 3DS game will add two more. Here’s the catch: it’s titled Nobunaga’s Ambition 2.

There were previously about 900 military commanders in the game, but the 3DS remake will add 100 new commanders, and an interface that makes it easier to play, along with more save data slots.

Meanwhile, to make things even more confusing, the upcoming 3DS title, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2, is actually a remake of Romance of the Three Kingdoms III, which was originally released for PC, Mega Drive, and the Super NES.

Similar to Nobunaga’s Ambition 2, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 adds new scenarios and another 100 new military commanders, for a total of over 800, in addition to a new editor feature where you can edit commanders and cities.

A Nobunaga’s Ambition 2’s Premium Box edition includes the game, a soundtrack CD (26 tracks,) original micro-fiber cloth pouch, and special stickers for 6,800 yen plus tax. Meanwhile, Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2’s Premium Box includes the soundtrack CD, micro-fiber pouch, and a 30th anniversary sticker set.

There’s also a twin pack that features both games for 8,800 yen plus tax, and also includes a pack of 12 poster cards for Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2.

Both Nobunaga’s Ambition 2 and Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2 will release in Japan on August 6, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
