As people might have expected, since it is halfway through December 2021, River City Girls Zero won’t make its 2021 release window. WayForward took to Twitter to confirm it. In so doing, it also offered an updated expected release. People will now see the delayed River City Girls Zero in “early 2022.” There’s also new art featuring Kunio, Kyoko, Misako, and Riki. [Thanks, Destructoid!]
Here’s WayForward’s announcement. It didn’t cite any specific reasons as to why River City Girls Zero is delayed out of 2022. It only mentioned a desire to ensure its quality. As a reminder this is a Super Famicom to Nintendo Switch port.
Update from River City! To achieve the most accurate port and best experience possible, River City Girls Zero (aka Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka) is now planned for early 2022. Enjoy this new artwork and look forward to playing this classic '90s beat-'em-up next year! pic.twitter.com/z4KJb7ROq5

WayForward’s talked about how it will be changing this version. For example, in the past it showed the new manga cutscene. Like River City Girls, it will have a comic opening.
River City Girls Zero will come to the Nintendo Switch in early 2022. Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka appeared on the Super Famicom in Japan.
