The game will be called Ryu ga Gotoku 8 in Japan, continuing the numbering system of the series. However, the name change to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth in the West was due to new fans coming to the series through the previous main game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The subtitle, Infinite Wealth, is directly tied to themes within the game. However, Yokoyama kept quiet about what that means for now. He also pointed out the infinity symbol also appeared in the game’s teaser trailer in 2022.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth was recently shown off in a new trailer at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase. It featured protagonist Kasuga Ichiban washing up naked on a beach in Hawaii and alarming other beachgoers. It will follow a side game, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which also got a new trailer at Summer Game Fest.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4 and PC in early 2024.
