Christophe Gans, who worked on the previous 2006 Silent Hill movie, is the director for this one. He co-wrote the script with Sandra Vo-Anh (Beauty and the Beast) and William Jose Schneider (The Crows). Gans and Vo-Anh worked together on the 2014 adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, which star Léa Seydoux and Vincent Cassel.

Return to Silent Hill will adapt Silent Hill 2. Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) stars as James and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw) plays Mary. It’s likely that she will also play Maria, the mysterious woman with an uncanny resemblance to Mary whom James encounters in Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 2 is widely considered to be one of the best video games of all time with its psychological horror and usage of symbolism. Since its release in September 2001, it has sold over a million copies. Bloober Team announced a remake in October 2022 and it is still in development.

Return to Silent Hill started filming in April 2023 and it does not have a release date yet.
