PlayStation Vita Games Can Be Cheaper Than PSP Titles, Even At Launch

And, no we’re not just saying that because Browser Sangokushi Next is free. While Sony hasn’t said much about software pricing, Nippon Ichi came out of the game and set Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention at 6,090 yen ($80). Square Enix’s launch games, Lord of Apocalypse and Army Corps of Hell, will retail for 5,980 yen ($78) and 4,980 yen ($65) respectively.

Dark Quest Alliance aka Gameloft’s Dungeon Hunter Alliance is just 2,940 yen ($38)– or 2,899 if you get it from Amazon. In dollars, the PlayStation Vita games appear more pricey, but they’re actually around the same price as PSP games in Japan. Final Fantasy Type-0, for example, is 7,700 yen ($100).

 

Sure, Dungeon Hunter Alliance will probably be a downloadable game in the West, but it’s interesting to note the wide range of PlayStation Vita retail software prices around the system’s launch window. Here’s what 2,940 yen gets you.
