Resident Evil Re:Verse will be an online multiplayer game celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. The title will showcase classic characters like Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine–each with their own skillsets. Fans can duke it out online in four to six-player deathmatch battles. When defeated in combat, players will then respawn by mutating into an enemy to take revenge. Fans will notice the art style features a comic book look, setting it apart from other entries in the series. The game will be free for anyone who purchases Resident Evil Village.

Humble Bundle accidentally listed the standard and deluxe editions of Resident Evil Village before the official reveal. The website quickly took the pages down after word began to spread.

Players who purchase Resident Evil Village will receive free access to the game. Resident Evil Re:Verse will launch on May 7, 2021, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can play the game through backward compatibility. Capcom assured people it will share more information on the game at a later date.
