Capcom has announced an official release date for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and revealed a new official trailer. The two-and-a-half-minute-long video sets up the background of the outbreak and introduces a few new characters. The upcoming Netflix original series will be coming to the service on July 8, 2021.
The CG animated show will feature Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, two years after the events of Resident Evil 4. Set in 2006, it follows the aftermath of a hacking incident in the Whitehouse. Two outbreaks similar to the outbreak in Raccoon City force Leon and Claire to work together again to uncover the true nature of the virus.
The official trailer also revealed some new information. It opens with interviewing a soldier, who recounts his traumatic experiences fighting abroad. Both characters seem to understand how the virus can reanimate dead bodies. While it isn’t explained how exactly this ties into the events of the series, it’s possibly related to the strange drawing Claire received from a refugee abroad.
Additionally, we get a good look at Claire’s investigative skills as she pieces together clues in a motel room. The trailer also heavily features the President, as well as Whitehouse officials, with hints to a government conspiracy. A new female character also stands in front of a mirror and eavesdropping on a conversation, though this person’s identity is unconfirmed.
Lastly, the trailer gives a closer look at some of the zombies of the series. If you want to see more, you can check out the official trailer for Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness below:
