It seems that the Resident Evil series is headed to TV, and is being created as a Netflix original show by German production company Constantin Film, who also was the company behind the Resident Evil movie series. [Thanks, Deadline!]

The supposed TV show will keep to the basic premise of the series, focusing on the inner workings of Umbrella Corp. and the effects of the T-Virus outbreak. It is expected to have the series’ signature elements as well as Easter eggs for fans.

Apart from a TV series, Constantin Film announced back in 2017 that a movie series reboot was in planned for the future. Currently, Johannes Roberts has been hired to write and direct the future feature film. The movie series has cumulatively earned $1.2 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film series based on video games.
