Remember Silent Hill Origins?

This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s the only new Silent Hill game announced unless you count the Silent Hill light gun game. It’s been almost a year since Konami announced it as a PSP title, but it isn’t necessarily vaporware. After Team Silent disbanded the project was handed over to Climax, the UK developer who made Sudeki. However, details are hazy on what exactly Silent Hill Origins is. Konami’s official page mentions a “New Barricade System allows players the ability to block off rooms from enemies”. Then an interview in Play Magazine with William Oertel from the Climax team says, “That was the original plan…that enemies would chase after you and you’d have to trap them in other rooms to be able to proceed. It was almost going to be a kind of puzzle element. It proved to be very difficult to implement. The design would have taken a lot of time, so that part is no longer in the game. It would have been a nice feature to have, but we just ran out of time. It was either…we could have a great barricade game, or a great Silent Hill game (laughs).” Huh? So which is it? Your guess is as good as mine. We’ll have to wait until Silent Hill Origins is actually released, which is supposedly this year.
