Rei Ayanami Holds a Doll in New Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Figure

One of the latest figure reveals at Kotobukiya Collection 2023 [Winter] involved quite a spoiler. The company showed off its latest Rebuild of Evangelion figure of Rei Ayanami. It is a recreation of a scene from Evangelion 3.0+1.0. While an unpainted prototype, it shows her holding a doll. It’s only an unpainted prototype, but the company specifically called attention to the way her eyes are designed.

Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for Evangelion 3.0+1.0 in both the official Kotobukiya images of this Rei Ayanami figure and the description below.

First, here’s a look at the figure below. This involves the long-haired version of Rei. It also features eyes that look like they’re barely open if you look at it from one angle, but seem completely closed if you view it from another perspective. The finished product will be a 1/6th scale figure.

As it is unpainted, it is unknown if the final figure’s doll will also feature the word “Tsubame” on it, referencing Tsubame Suzuhara. However, the official site does refer to it as the “Tsubame-chan” doll and notes the goal was to create a “motherly” version of Rei.

There have been quite a few Rei Ayanami figures referencing this Evangelion 3.0+1.0 spoiler. For example, MegaHouse released one of her in the same plugsuit and with long hair. Another posable figure referenced the time she spent farming in the film.

There’s no release window yet for this new Evangelion figure of Rei Ayanami. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 and the other Rebuild of Evangelion films are available to watch on Amazon.
