Dungeon RPG developer Experience has been improving how DRPGs look since Students of the Round. While that game was self published, Ray Gigant for PlayStation Vita has backing by Bandai Namco. It seems this allowed Experience to set a new bar for DRPGs.
Instead of showing battles with character portraits and a first person perspective, Ray Gigant shows your party members from an over the shoulder perspective. Battles look fantastic and have come a long way from Wizardry.
Ray Gigant comes out on July 30 in Japan. As of now, the game has not been announced for the West, but Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy arrives in North America tomorrow.
