Raccoon City Incident Report Trailer Gives Us a 5-Minute Recap Ahead of Resident Evil 3 Remake

The Resident Evil 3 remake is a couple of weeks away from release and we got a new “Raccoon City Incident Report” trailer from Capcom to give us a quick 5-minute recap.

Raccoon City, once a metropolis located in the midwestern United States. It was also the home of the pharmaceutical giant, Umbrella Corporation. The city was a vibrant, peaceful place… until “the incident” that would change everything.

Resident Evil 0

July 23, 1998

It all began with a series of bizarre, cannibalistic murders occurring in the outskirts of Raccoon City. In response, the Raccoon Police Department dispatches the Bravo team of S.T.A.R.S., an elite special forces unit, to investigate. However, an engine failure forces them to make an emergency landing in their helicopter. The team survives the rough landing, only to discover an MP vehicle, whose passengers had been gruesomely murdered…

Bravo team sets out in search of the only suspect, an escaped ex-Marine convict…

Resident Evil

In response to the helicopter crash, and the lack of correspondence from the Bravo team, the S.T.A.R.S. captain dispatches Alpha team. When the Alpha team touch down to investigate the crash site, they are attacked by a pack of ferocious dogs…

… and barely escape into a nearby mansion.

What awaits them inside…

… is a nightmare, where undead creatures walk the mansion.

As they search for an escape from the dangers of the mansion, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, and the other S.T.A.R.S. members, uncover the grim truth. The zombies in the mansion are the byproducts of a bioweapon that was manufactured by Umbrella.

Taking great risks along the way, the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members escape the mansion within an inch of their lives. Upon their escape, Jill, Chris, and any S.T.A.R.S. left alive, vowed to work together, in order to expose Umbrella’s dark secret.

And so, what would later come to be known as the “Mansion Incident”, came to an end…

Hidden deep in the bowels of Raccoon City, lies a vast Umbrella research lab. In an attempt to recover the research of William Birkin, Umbrella accidentally causes the leak of a bioweapon…

September 29, 1998

Rookie police officer Leon S. Kennedy heads towards Raccoon City, for the first day of his new job…

At the same time, Claire Redfield rides towards the city, searching for her older brother Chris, who has been unreachable for two months.

When they both arrive, they discover a city of the dead.

So, what exactly happened in the buildup to Raccoon’s destruction? One day earlier…

September 28, 1998

Jill Valentine.

She continues her own investigation into Umbrella as the city falls to ruin. Umbrella takes advantage of the chaos, and sends in Nemesis, a new type of bioweapon. Its goal is simple: Eliminate all remaining S.T.A.R.S. members.

As a veil of desperation descends on Raccoon City, can Jill maker her last escape…?

 

The Resident Evil 3 remake will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on April 3, 2020.  The demo arrives tomorrow, March 19, 2020.
