Quantum Theory isn’t a PlayStation 3 exclusive anymore. Tecmo Koei announced their third person shooter is also coming to the Xbox 360.
Syd is the gun touting hero in the screenshot. He and Filena, an AI controlled female partner that Syd can toss as a weapon, explore a morphing tower. Why? Here’s how Tecmo describes the story.
Many years have passed since the world war inflicted catastrophic damage on the human race, leaving only a few survivors. In their new community “Cocoon,” life has been threatened by a black material called Erosion, creating a post-apocalyptic environment. Surviving humans recruit a militia to conquer the Erosion and set out to take down the evil, “Living Tower”. Arriving at the scene is the stalwart warrior Syd, whose only intentions are to destroy the Tower. He meets the beautiful and mysterious Filena as they both ascend to the top in their search for answers. The erosion of the Tower intensifies as the players climb up through the moving landform.
Quantum Theory is Tecmo’s take on the third person shooter genre. It’s also their first online shooting game. Tecmo plans to make four online multiplayer modes before the game comes out in spring 2010. Makoto Shibata, Director, explained in an interview with us that they’re planning ten to twelve multiplayer maps and Quantum Theory won’t have offline multiplayer. Shibata also commented on the PS3 exclusivity, which isn’t the case anymore.
