This title is based on Puzzle Bobble VR: Vacation Odyssey, a VR-exclusive game released earlier for Oculus Quest and Oculus Quest 2 on May 20, 2021. While the new release is set to support PlayStation VR, Puzzle Bobble 3D will also be playable on a flatscreen without any VR devices. The non-VR gameplay will utilize features of the DualShock 4 on the PS4 version and DualSense on the PS5.

Just like the Oculus release, Puzzle Bobble 3D will have a 100-level Story Mode and an endless Infinite Mode. Survios also enhanced the online Duel Mode to support quick matches between VR and flatscreen players across PlayStation 4 and 5.

The series’ official Bub’s Broadcast channel has also shared an official trailer for Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey.

In the PlayStation.Blog post, Survios teased more celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the Bubble Bobble series. The inaugural title was released on arcades in 1986. That classic version is also available to play on PlayStation 4 through the Arcade Archives series.

Puzzle Bobble 3D: Vacation Odyssey will be available for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR support in the latter half of 2021.
